Farewell Song is a 1982 collection by rock & roll icon Janis Joplin,featuring live performances and alternate studio outtakes. The albumincludes recordings with her bands Big Brother and the Holding Companyand the Kozmic Blues Band. Some of this collection’s highlights includea studio recording of “One Night Stand” (produced by Todd Rundgren)and a rendition of Sam Andrews’ poignant “Farewell Song (Live).” Italso features the song “Catch Me Daddy,” taken from a Cheap Thrillsrecording session. For this release, the producer enhanced the originaltracks by replacing the band’s original instrumental recordings withthose of studio musicians to highlight what can be considered some ofJoplin’s most inspired studio vocals.
